INTRODUCTION

The Institute of Public Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences at Khyber Medical University (KMU) launched its first Diploma in Clinical Psychology (DCP) program in 2021, under the supervision of experienced psychiatrists and clinical psychologists. The program aims to equip trainees with essential skills in psychological assessment, therapeutic interventions, and clinical research. In response to the increasing demand for Clinical Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at KMU and across the region, the department has expanded its offerings to meet growing mental health needs. The institute started  4 years undergraduate program in 2023

The core areas of interest and strategic focus for the Institute of Public Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences (IPMH&BS) remain centered on the following: 

1. To strengthen faculty capacity across affiliated health institutions through specialized MS and Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, producing research-competent mental health professionals equipped to lead evidence-based practice and academic innovation in Pakistan  
2. To establish and expand structured clinical research program in mental health
3.   To institutionalize standardized psychometric protocols, evidence-based clinical psychology methodologies, and behavioral science research frameworks across all affiliated medical and health institutions.
4. To deliver high-quality psychological assessment, differential diagnosis, and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions                                                     Mission                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        IPMH&BS is committed to provide window to all those students who aspire to become precisely trained , skilled qualified health professionals and enable themselves to work as thorough professionals. The IPMH&BS KMU will endeavor to engage well qualified and committed faculty, applying modern teaching/ learning strategies to produce highly skilled and trained technologist to the healthcare system of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.                                                                           Objectives

   • To uphold ethical standards, professional conduct, and disciplined practice in therapeutic and clinical environments.
