PhD Biochemistry
The PhD Biochemistry program at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Khyber Medical University is designed to provide rigorous training in modern biochemical and molecular biology techniques. The program aims to produce graduates who are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills required to conduct independent research in the field of Biochemistry.
The PhD Biochemistry program consists of both coursework and research components. The coursework is designed to provide a strong foundation in various areas of Biochemistry, including advanced topics in Ethics for Research Scientists, Applied Biostatistics, Presentation and Scientific writing skills, Biosafety and Biosecurity, Clinical Biochemistry, Computational Biochemistry, Nutritional Biochemistry.
The research component of the program focuses on the development of research skills and the production of original research. The program encourages research in a variety of areas. Students are expected to complete a research project under the supervision of a faculty member, and produce a thesis based on their research findings which must be defended openly (in presence of an audience) in front of a panel of experts in the field.
To be eligible for the program applicants must have completed an M.Phil./MS/FCPS and equivalent degree in relevant field with CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the Semester System) or First Division (in the Annual System) from an HEC recognized university. Applicants must also have a valid subject GRE test score and must pass the university's admission test and interview process.
